Who are We?

Thomson Event Solutions is a specialist lighting and power provider focused on marquee events and temporary outdoor setups.

Our focus is on delivering clean, well-executed setups—combining reliable power with lighting that enhances the space—without unnecessary complexity or inflated production costs.

How we work

Everything is planned with the event in mind from the start.

  • Power requirements are correctly sized

  • Lighting is clean, warm and practical

  • Installs are tidy and integrated into the space

  • Setup is efficient and well coordinated with other suppliers

All temporary electrical systems are installed and tested in line with BS7909 guidance, so everything is safe, compliant and fit for purpose.

Filling the gap

A lot of marquee and small outdoor events fall into the same awkward space.

  • Too complex to handle ad hoc

  • Too small to justify full production suppliers

That’s where we fit in, we provide properly designed, right sized solutions that sit between ‘a few extension leads’ and a full production set up - giving you exactly what you need without overcomplicating things.

About me

Hi, I’m Jacob, founder of Thomson Event Solutions.

With a background in hands-on event production across marquees, lighting, and power, I bring a practical, detail-focused approach to every project. I’ve worked on a wide range of events — from large-scale productions such as Glastonbury Festival and The Great British Bake Off, to immersive installations like RHS Glow at Wisley, as well as countless corporate events and private celebrations.

These are environments where precision, reliability, and seamless execution are essential. That experience underpins everything I do.

I focus on delivering refined, well-executed lighting and power setups that integrate effortlessly into your event — enhancing the space while remaining clean, considered, and unobtrusive.

Qualifications and technical expertise

Over the years working in the events industry, I’ve gained extensive hands-on experience across a wide range of lighting, power, marquee, and site-based environments. Alongside this practical experience, I’ve also developed a strong set of industry qualifications that support safe and professional working practices on site.

These include:

  • BS7909 (C&G accredited) – Temporary electrical systems for events

  • NPORS Telehandler & forklift licences

  • IPAF 3a & 3b – Mobile elevated work platform (scissor lifts and cherry pickers)

These qualifications help ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with industry standards, particularly in demanding outdoor and temporary event environments.
